The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority said a new employer will be locating to Muskingum County and it could mean as many as one thousand jobs.

At a special meeting Monday, Port Authority Executive Director Mike Jacoby announced that Fanatics, Inc. a retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise, is weeks away from finalizing a 9.75 million dollar purchase of the Longaberger Distribution Center in Frazeysburg.

Fanatics, Inc. is also looking to invest nearly 44 million dollars in new equipment.

Jacoby said the Port Authority will also be providing maintenance incentives for the company.

"We’re paying them up to $20,000 a year for 10 years to offset some of those costs that they have and it’s pro-rated to the jobs that are created here," said Jacoby, "if they don’t meet their job commitments, we would reduce that, but every indication is that this company is growing like crazy."

The deal would bring 270 permanent jobs to the area by December, 2013 and a seasonal workforce of 1,000.

COO Brent Trager said the deal allows for Fanatics, Inc. to not only expand their business but invest in the community.

"We’re going to need the people to be successful in this community we’re going to need the people to be successful, so we want to invest in the community to ensure that success, said Trager."

Longaberger Company President Tami Longaberger said the company is delighted that Fanatics, Inc. has chosen to locate their Distribution Center on the Longaberger Company’s campus.
