One man is in the hospital with serious injuries after police say a car struck a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon.

Zanesville Police responded to the scene just after 4 p.m.

Patrolman Joel Tignor said 27-year-old Christa Jewell of Zanesville pulled out in front of a motorcyclist at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Gray street.

Police say the motorcyclist is 64-year-old Arthur Mickens of Zanesville, who was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Officer Tignor said Mickens was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

No other injuries were reported.

Jewell was cited with failure to yield.
