There’s a new attraction at the John McIntire Library in Zanesville.
The "Wild About Eyes" kiosk was installed in the Carnegie Wing Gallery on Wednesday. Assistant Director Blair Tom said the kiosk has four interactive stations for young people to learn about vision and eye safety.
"There’s a computer that has a little film that they can watch and take a quiz," said Tom. "They can see different kinds of vision impairments and how they would affect their vision. It’s very interactive and a fun learning tool for young people."
The library applied through Prevent Blindness Ohio to host the kiosk during the month of August.
"There are so many other things that we give attention to that are more apparent to us, and this is a fun way to engage them," said Tom. "They think they’re having fun, which they are, but they’ll be learning, and as a result, they’ll be safer and more aware of the importance of taking care of their vision."
There will be a special story time that incorporates the kiosk on August 22nd at 10:30 a.m.
