A motorcycle test drive goes wrong in Perry Township.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Fowler said a man was returning the bike to its owner when he lost control on Hicks Road and crashed into a ditch.
"It appears he was going a little bit too fast around the curve there, and that’s what caused him to go off the right side of the road," said Fowler.
The man suffered head trauma and was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Fowler said the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
"A lot of people have their own beliefs on the helmets, but obviously anytime you got one on, it’s only going to help you," said Fowler. "In this case, it would’ve helped the gentleman involved in this crash."
Fowler said the man will likely be cited with failure to control. He said it’s also possible that the man does not have a motorcycle endorsement. Perry Township Fire and EMS assisted in the accident, which remains under investigation.
