Zane State College is receiving national recognition once again.

The college was recognized for the second year in a row by the Chronicle of Higher Education as one of the, "Great colleges to work for."

Adjunct Services Coordinator Pam Kirst said she and her fellow employees are honored to receive the recognition and are committed to investing in their student’s lives.

"I think that the reality is that people are just glad that they are making a difference, so, when you give people the opportunity to make a difference, that’s job satisfaction," said Kirst.

Zane State is the only two-year college in the state to make the list, ranking high in professional and career development programs as well as supervisor or department chair programs and recognition for innovative and high quality teaching.

"I think that our students are very invested in that. I would say that our students are relationship based, rather than status based, and they make strong connections not only with their instructors, but we have the personal touch philosophy here, and that extends for everybody," added Kirst

The rankings are based on responses from nearly 47,000 employees at about 300 two and four-year colleges nationwide.
