A New Look for a New Job

There’s a chance for the unemployed in our area to get a new look in order to get a new job.

The Opportunity Center is once again partnering with the Mid-East Cosmetology Department to provide make-overs to those out of work. It’s part of their annual "Y-City Style at Work" event.

"It seems like when people get laid off one of the first things to go when money is tight is getting your hair cut and things like that," said Job Developer Julie Metzger. "We want to give them the opportunity to get their hair cut and a good style and be able to put their best foot forward."

Along with a haircut manicures will also be provided.

"I think it’s a real boost for their self esteem to just feel like they look presentable. They feel professional and they’re ready for an interview," explained Metzger.

Those interested in taking part should contact the Opportunity Center at (740) 454-6211. The event is free and will take place September 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
