The Muskingum County Center for Seniors is partnering with local and state agencies to keep the elderly safe on the road.

Wednesday, the center will host its first ever, "Senior Safety Day" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Executive Director, Terry Dunn said the event is designed to touch on all aspects from safe driving to traffic laws.

"Traffic has changed," said Dunn. "We read in the paper all the time and see on the news about the aggressive drivers and the threatening drivers and this will hopefully let people ask, How do I control that? What do I do? How do I avoid it?"

The event will feature guest speakers from the State Highway Patrol, Zanesville’s Police and Fire departments as well as the

Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and a representative from Ohio Auto Club AAA.

"One of the key things that we’re going to have is, "Car Fit," added Dunn,  "Where seniors will be able to drive right up here to the front of the building in their own car, and we have an ergonomist in and she will help them adjust their seat forward, backward, up, down and adjust all their mirrors so they can have the optimal vision out of their vehicle."

Seniors will also hear from local law enforcement regarding scam awareness and prevention.
