A community cook off will come to Zanesville next week.
Newton Township and Zanesville firefighters in cooperation with the Downtown Artists Colony present the first ever "Z" Invitational Chili Cook off on Friday October 5th. The cook off will take place at the Masonic Temple in downtown Zanesville.
"We’ll have a lot of things for the children outside, games they get to play, things they get to do. Also we’ll be looking at some vintage photos and things from some of the fire departments and the gentleman from New York is bringing a nice art exhibit from fires and things like that," said Cook Off Organizer, Bob Grayson.
The event is held as part of First Friday to help promote national fire safety week. The community is invited to come and enjoy classic music, art from eight galleries, contests and prizes, antique fire engines and fire fighting equipment and of course lots of great chili. Everyone is welcome to participate and let their recipe be judged by the pros.
"We have judges coming in, they’ll be chefs from some of the area restaurants. The Mayor, we’re inviting him to come and taste chili. We’ll do a people’s choice and provide awards for them," said Grayson.
