Girl Scouts Help Burn Victims

Two girl scouts are hoping to put a smile on the faces of suffering children.

Paige Stillion and Jasmine Jewell are working on their Girl Scout Silver Award but they aren’t simply focused on achieving recognition, they also want to help burn victims. Their goal is to raise funds for burn unit patients and raise awareness for fire safety. They came up with the idea after local girl Payten Newell was badly burned in an accident last June.

"We"ve spent a lot of hours working on it and it’s been harder than we thought it would be getting people to donate finding the supplies we need but it’s been worth it," said Jewell.

After raising the money, the girls will go to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to spread cheer to the children in the burn unit and help out the hospital by purchasing items on their wish list.

"We’re pretty excited about it but also we think it’s going to be sad so we have to be prepared," said Stillion.

If you want to donate to the girl’s efforts you can contact assistant troop leader Jessica Jewell at (740) 704-1361.
