Governor John Kasich visited Cambridge Friday to get a first hand look at an evolving company.
Over the past six months, Quanex Building Products has added 150 new jobs at its Cambridge facility which is the central hub for its insulating glass spacer production. The company recently made the decision to consolidate operations, closing the facility in Kentucky and moving everything into Ohio. The continued dedication to creating jobs in Ohio inspired the visit from Governor Kasich.
"This is a great announcement, this could have easily been in Kentucky but it isn’t, it’s right here in our community and this is going to be an operation that’s going to prosper and think about it we’re now hooked to a global company, " said Gov. Kasich.
Quanex has twenty locations worldwide and has taken an active role in engaging lawmakers on issues and opportunities faced by the communities in which it operates and in the markets it serves.
"We see nothing but growth in our future, as the energy costs continue to rise, those types of projects that dictate energy efficient programs are only going to help us so we see good things and big growth for our business here in Ohio," said Quanex General Manger George Wilson.
Governor Kasich took a brief tour of the facility before addressing Quanex employees.
