A Noble County man is facing charges in connection to the shooting death of a Caldwell woman.
Noble County Sheriff Steve Hannum said 34-year-old Larry Schoeppner of Belle Valley was charged this morning with murder in Noble County Court after investigators say he shot 46-year-old Tracy Kay at an apartment on Cumberland Street Saturday night.
Hannum said the victims daughter Tasha called authorities at her mother’s request when she entered her apartment and discovered Schnoepper inside.
"My dispatcher sent two Caldwell City Police officers, two of my Deputies, and naturally they called me," Hannum said. "When law enforcement arrived, gunshots were heard coming from inside the apartment building."
Investigators say Schoeppner was the estranged boyfriend of Kay.
Hannum said Kay was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is being performed at the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
"Mr. Schoeppner surrendered himself to authorities," added Hannum, "At which time he was placed in wrist restraints and transported to the Noble County Jail."
Schoeppner remains behind bars on a one million dollar bond.
