Dillon State Park was ringing with gunfire Saturday.

Zanesville Ducks Unlimited held their annual Greenwing event for youth seventeen and under to participate in outdoor activities.

"We teach the children about fire arm safety, hunting safety and obviously the outdoors but children have the opportunity to shoot firearms today and also shoot bow and arrow, we have Muskingum County SWAT team here doing some demonstrations and showing their equipment, we have Licking Township EMS and Fire here they have some demonstrations," said Zanesville Ducks Unlimited member, Ben Whitacre.

Youth were able to shoot several types of firearms, participate in clay shooting and archery. Professional instructors were on hand to teach proper firearm safety. The Ohio Division of Wildlife also educated the children on proper bow and arrow safety, a must for soon to be hunters.

"I think it’s a great event because the education that it gives to the youth is definitely a major impact on them," said Whitacre.

Every child went home with a prize, some even won their own gun.
