September is National Senior Center Month and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors is celebrating in true Ohio State fashion.
A pep rally was held at the Center for Seniors at the Sunrise Center on the East Pike and featured a balloon launch, lunch and door prizes for those in attendance.
Activity Director Rosemary Sherfy said the center relies on community support for many of its activities and continues to turn that support into meaningful programs for the elderly.
"We have a lot of community support here at out senior center," said Sherfy, "and we do appreciate that because that’s what helps make the senior center so wonderful and great. We see a lot of people come out here, in fact a lot of people come out here from all over. so we’re glad to have the support of the community."
The day’s celebration featured an appearance from Buck I Guy, who signed autographs and took pictures with seniors.
The Ohio State enthusiast said he was excited to come out and support seniors and buckeye fans alike.
"I’m telling you , man, this is unbelievable," said Buck I Guy. "Darn glad to be here. Miss Rosemary right there invited me down, I was happy to accept. I took a half a day off, Buck I Guy does have a job, took a half a day off work to come down here to be with the great folks of Muskingum County."
The event also featured representatives from AAA, Zandex Healthcare, and the Muskingum County Library System.
