Troops returning home received a warm welcome from dozens of motorcycle riders in the area.

Members of the 2nd Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery were escorted by veterans and other motorcycle riders from the VFW Posts 1058 and 4713 to McConnelsville.

Army Training NCO, John Lambert said those who showed up volunteered their time to show their appreciation to those in the service.

"It basically spread by word of mouth, it went viral, it’s amazing that we got this many bikes to show up," said Lambert.  "These guys aren’t getting paid, they’re just showing up to support the troops and to welcome them home."

Lambert said the troops were escorted down State Route 60 to Morgan High School where they were reunited with their families.

They’ll have their families, and they’ve got a big ceremony for them and everything," added Lambert.  "It’s a real big deal for us, and the community, I just came from down there, and I saw flags going up and stuff, so it looks like the community is going to be out there also."
