Two people were taken to the hospital after a motorcycle accident near Chandlersville.

New Concord Emergency Personnel and the State Highway Patrol responded to the call around 4 p.m.

Trooper Stephen Williams said a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on State Route 313 near Tom lane.

The bike went off the road and both the driver and passenger were ejected.

Williams said the two people were traveling with a group of motorcyclists.

"They had a large motorcycle group traveling together, although they stated that they were single-file, they weren’t riding two together in a tight formation," said Williams.  "We just encourage motorcycle riders to be aware of their surroundings, especially, debris on the side of the road. If they’re not familiar with the roadway, slow down, take precautions, take your time."

Upon initial investigation, Williams said gravel on the side of the road might have caused the accident.

Both people were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver has been identified as 64-year-old John Blue of Galion.

His wife, 72-year-old Melinda Blue, was the passenger on the motorcycle.

Williams says the driver will be cited with failure to control.
