Zane State College is getting ready to break ground at two new facilities.

The Advanced Science and Technology Center is coming to Zanesville and Cambridge.  President Dr. Paul Brown said both locations will have cutting-edge technical programs that are related to the STEMM fields, which includes science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.

"It’s very exciting and one of the things we want to emphasize is that we have been involved in a capital campaign to raise funds for this," said Brown.  "We’ve had great support from business and industry, private philanthropy and the state and federal government."

Brown said that community colleges hold the key for curing an ailing U.S. economy.  Zane State offers a variety of options to meet the growing needs of individual students.

"We have one year certificates, we have two year degrees and we have short-term courses to get you the skills that you need for high demand occupations," said Brown.  "People are being recruited for those skills even before they graduate."

The groundbreaking ceremonies will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Zanesville and 1 p.m. in Cambridge.  The public is encouraged to attend.
