The Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Economic Outlook Breakfast.
The event kicks off October 18th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center.
Chamber of Commerce President Tom Poorman said business leaders in the area will discuss their plans for next year and talk about new businesses and industries that will impact the community.
"The Ohio Oil and Gas Association is going to tell us what they see going on all over Eastern and Southeastern Ohio In terms of Utica Shale exploration," said Poorman. "We also have two local individuals that are going to talk about a set of products that they have patented and a company that they are starting up, so it’s going to be a very interesting program all around."
Headlining the conference will be nationally-renown economist, Christopher Low.
Poorman said this year’s conference will bring in more speakers from the state and national level to better illustrate the impact the local economy could face in the future.
"This year, we took a little different approach," said Poorman. "We thought we better talk about shale and have somebody from the state level come in and give us a broader perspective and then we have an economist who’s talking about the national economy because that’s such a hot topic."
The event is sponsored by Community Financial Advisors.
