The Muskingum County Library System’s new partnership with West Muskingum Local Schools is off to a great start.
Since August the public library has been providing services to West Muskingum High School. The deal allows both parties to share services and costs relating to staffing at the high school. As part of the agreement, a full-time librarian, Brittany Tesar has been hired.
"She’s been out here working in the high school library she’s just kind of been orienting herself and figuring out the collection and getting to know the students, the teachers, the school district, the community that she serves out here," said Director of Libraries for Muskingum County, Sandi Plymire.
The partnership also allows for extended access to the public library resources which students can place on hold and will be delivered to the school library.
"Students that either come in here and approach me or can look at our catalog online, the school catalog that is, if there’s something that’s missing or something that they would like to see that isn’t currently available, they can come to me as well as the public library page where they can request to have material sent her," said Librarian Brittany Tesar.
The agreement will last for ten months, then both parties will decide if they wish to continue with the partnership.
