Area seniors can take advantage of a new health insurance program.

Genesis HealthCare System is partnering with Mount Carmel Health Plan to offer Medicare Advantage plans under the brand name MediGold.  Genesis CEO Matthew Perry said MediGold is a not-for-profit, hospital-owned Medicare Advantage program based in Ohio.

"It is very much aligned around providing very high quality care," said Perry.  "There’s a lot of prevention services that are offered through this plan, so it’s all about helping people stay healthy."

Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Marietta Memorial Hospital, Selby General Hospital and Coshocton Memorial Hospital will also participate.

"The care coordination that takes place for this plan is all local," said Perry.  "It’s right here.  It’s done through an organization called Quality Care Partners, which is owned by our physician community and Genesis."

Those interested can apply during the annual enrollment period from October 15 to December 7.  For more information, call 1-800-964-4525.
