Senator Sherrod Brown made a stop in Zanesville Saturday as part of his "Road to Ohio Jobs" tour. The tour started in Columbus before making it’s way to the Y-City. The rally gathered supporters and volunteers who went door-to-door to promote Brown’s campaign.

Brown says there has been a resurgence of jobs in Ohio that he believes will continue to increase.

"Economic growth is everything." said Senator Brown. "We’ve seen, in the last 2 1/2 years, that the unemployment rate in Ohio has gone down from 10.5% to 7%, but that’s not good enough. There are still far too many people in Zanesville and all over Muskingum county that aren’t working, that we want to put to work."

Contrary to some political ads, Brown says there is no war on coal, adding that there are more coal workers and more coal is mined in Ohio than five years ago.

"To me, it’s everything." explained Brown. "It’s natural gas, it’s continued cleaner coal, it’s solar, it’s wind turbines, manufacturing, it’s lithium batteries in Elyria, Ohio. It’s what we’re doing at Stark State on research on batteries.’

Brown says energy is necessary in order to create jobs and use less foreign oil.
