The Veterans Day festivities didn’t stop with the parade, an event at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville also honored veterans in a special way.
Three new members were inducted into Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame. Glenn Girton, Clinton Wheeler, and Kenneth Wheeler were this year’s inductees.
"It means a lot to the veterans." said Veterans Council president Bud Johnson. "It’s nothing more than local, but it means so much to them because they are local, and that’s what they’ve helped with since they got out of the military is local stuff."
The public was invited to attend the ceremony to support those who have served our country. Johnson says he’d like to see more people nominate veterans for the hall of fame.
"98% of the people in this county have veterans in their family somewhere, and it doesn’t take but a couple minutes to fill out a piece of paper and send it in to us." he said. "We have a board, we go through everything and select the ones for that year."
Each inductee received a plaque and medal. The crowd also enjoyed different performances throughout the ceremony.
