Adopt A Pet This Holiday

The Animal Shelter is having its Christmas open house this Saturday and they’re hoping lots of animals will get a home for the holidays.

All cats, dogs and other critters at the shelter are available for adoption. Thanks to generous sponsors, We Lov Pets and Invisible Fence, the first twelve adoptions will be at half price.

"It looks like the weather’s going to be good tomorrow and we’re hoping to do the twelve adoptions. That’s what the shelter’s all about is finding homes for the cats and dogs we have here so we just encourage people to come out we’re going to have some extra staff here to b able to accommodate everyone and we just encourage everyone to come out in the morning," said Jody Murray,  Animal Shelter Executive Director.

If your home has no extra room for another pet you can still help the shelter by fulfilling a wish for a pet in need.

"We have our giving tree which is for folks that either want to support the shelter they can come in and pick up a card and either sponsor an adoption at a later time. It has our wish list on there and it’s a good gift idea for the person you think has everything, you can come in and make a donation to the shelter," said Murray.

The open house begins at 10 a.m. at the shelter on Newark Road and will last until 1 p.m.
