What one Zanesville High School student thought would be a normal day in class turned out to be an unexpected family reunion.
Markell Curtis was stunned to see his brother, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Marshon Curtis, walk through the doors of his classroom just minutes before having to take a test. Everyone clapped and cheered as the brothers embraced. The two plan to catch up on lost time and Markell says he’s excited to have his brother home.
"I’ve always had a brother or sister at the house, and this is the first time I’ve seen him in a long time, and now the house isn’t going to be empty any more." he said.
Marshon Curtis has been deployed for about a year, and says it feels good to be home.
"It’s been too long. It’s been really too long." he said. "I left at 4:00 a.m. January 2nd, and this is the first time I’ve set foot here since."
The two brothers planned on grabbing a bite to eat together before catching up on video games. Marshon will leave again this January.
