Now that Thanksgiving is over, some people are focusing on holiday weight loss.
During this time of year, many people make a pledge to lose those extra pounds. But sometimes starting a new work out routine or changing your diet can be difficult, so it’s important to set realistic goals before you hit the gym.
"What I tell them is is set your big goals but then set little goals to help you. If you want to lose fifty pounds, you can do that it’s perfectly possible. But then alright, I want to lose five pounds this month, I want to lose another five pounds and that way it keeps you on track," said Johnathan Wisecarver a University of Cincinnati student.
Many people give up on their weight loss goals after a few months, but it is possible to get back in shape if you’re dedicated and willing to stick it out.
"It’s a very competitive place just because you know you have to keep pushing yourself. So that competition goes over into somebody else is in the gym, they’re my competition. If we could just make it a brotherhood and have everybody helping each other out I think that’d make it a lot easier," said Wisecarver.
Going to the gym for the first time can be hard, but that’s the first step toward a healthy life.
