Local authorities say a drug bust Thursday night detained eleven people and seized thousands of dollars of narcotics.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and Zanesville Police Department along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force searched a residence at 209 1/2 Brighton Boulevard and at 409 Mead Street.

Detectives say they found $5,600 worth of crack cocaine at the Brighton Boulevard residence. Three of four people were brought in for questioning. They also found a thousand dollars of U.S. currency, an AK-47 assault rifle, a handgun, ammo and drug paraphernalia.

At 409 Mead Street detectives located six males and two females and all were taken to the Zanesville City Jail. During a search of the home police say, crack cocaine, cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms, heroin and prescription pain pills were located. The estimated street value of all drugs seized was $2,500. Also found in the residence was a small caliber handgun, a sawed off shotgun and over $1,200 in U.S. currency. One SUV was also seized as part of the investigation.

"Detectives are still processing all the evidence. To say it was a rather large raid consisting of two locations so they spent the day sorting it out and meeting with the Prosecutor in determining or beginning to determine who and what charges will be filed first of the week," said Zanesville Police Chief, Eric Lambes.

No names are being released until formal charges are filed.
