Ready for Festival of Trees

Wednesday the doors will open to twinkling lights wrapped around Christmas trees.

The Festival of Trees auction will take place, Friday, but you can get a sneak peak Wednesday during the Miracle on Main event and Downtown Holiday tour. This year there are over two hundred holiday trees, wreaths and other holiday decorations up for auction.

"The creativity is amazing," said Chamber President Tom Poorman. "We’re always suprised and we’re always fascinated by how they come up with these ideas. I have no idea how they do it, but they do it. They have unique things every year. It’s different every year and there’s a diversity of different sizes and types of decorated items. They are really very creative."

Not only are the holiday decorations creative, but the incentives that go along with the entries are also very exciting.

"There might be a Kindle E-reader or a mini I-pad or a generator," said Poorman. "We have two generators in the auction this year that come as an incentive with an entry, so when you buy that entry you get that incentive with it. You’re going to pay a little bit more for it, but you many times get a great price on that incentive and we have a really strong list of those this year."

The Festival of Trees Auction begins Friday at 9-6pm. You can listen Live on WHIZ AM1240. All money raised goes to supporting economic development.
