The annual Sertoma Pancake Day is set for Wednesday, November 14th, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Secrest Auditorium. Event Co-Chair Russell Taylor said this is the 52nd year for the all-you-can-eat event.
"It starts months in advance. Thank God we have a program we go by every year… So it helps us, so it shouldn’t be too much work to do, but it can be hectic at times."
Tickets are $7 in advance from various businesses throughout the county, or $8 at the door. Taylor said close to 5,500 people we served last year, with plenty of helping hands to pitch in.
"We have three different churches that come in… We also have P.A.L. that comes in later in the afternoon to help serve. They clean tables, they help break down, clean up… And it helps the community that we donate money to the churches for them to come help us," said Taylor.
The Salvation Army and the Red Cross are just two of the charities to benefit from the funds raised this year. Over 52 cases of pancake mix were ordered to feed this year’s crowd.
