From First Friday to the Y-Bridge Arts Festival, the Artist Colony in Zanesville is continually growing and expanding, and in 2014 Zanesville will see an even larger art-based event.
The Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics will be a three day event in October of 2014. There will be a ceramic competition, with a $20,000 best of show prize, and plenty of exhibits to visit.
"Some of the finest ceramists in the country will come into Zanesville and they will give workshops." explained Linda Regula, Zanesville Ohio Ceramic Arts executive director. "We will have all the studios in town will be inviting local and regional potters to have on display. We’re partnering with a lot of organizations to provide a lot of entertainment."
At one time Zanesville was known as the pottery capitol of the world, but the title was lost over the years. This event will aim to bring ceramics back to life in the Y-Bridge city, but they are still looking for some helping hands.
"If they’re good at organizing, if they know a lot of contacts, if they’re into ceramics, into the arts, or just someone who really wants to see our downtown grow and prosper we welcome them." said Regula.
