Adopt-A-Child Helps Make the Holidays Brighter

It’s not too late to help give a child a merry Christmas this year.

The Adopt-A-Child program provides Christmas gifts for children under protective service or in foster care in Muskingum County. Friday volunteers from the Adopt-A-Child committee met at Faith United Methodist Church in Zanesville and along with help from the Philo High School boys basketball team, filled a truck with gifts to be delivered just in time for Christmas.

"It is a very special organization. We help around 400 children every year and without us most of these children would not have a Christmas," said Anne England of the Adopt-A-Child Committee.

It is not too late to donate to the program. The committee will continue to accept monetary donations or gifts from now through the holiday.

"If someone wants to shop Christmas Day we will take their gifts too because unfortunately sometimes we have children come into the system on Christmas Day."

Adopt-A-Child has been helping children in Muskingum County since the 1950’s. For more information on how you can help, contact Children Services.
