The Muskingum County investment committee had its final meeting for 2012.
Muskingum County commissioners and county treasurer Carol Friel met and Friel says the numbers are where they should be.
"We just want to make sure that we’ve got recorded all of the interests and make sure that we’re earning what we need to," said Friel.
Friel was appointed treasurer earlier this year after former treasurer Phil Murphy resigned. Friel was elected in November, her first full term begins in September 2013. There have been some complaints about Friel by the public concerning her hours in office, the public says at times she has been unavailable.
"I’m working everyday and the job of the treasurer is to collect the taxes and make sure that we’re investing as we need to and that’s what we’re doing," said Friel.
Friel went on to say the treasurer’s office is doing what it needs to do, right now the office is working to collect delinquent taxes and becoming more efficient handling the larger payments the office deals with. She also said she is always available to anyone who needs to speak with her.
