A major blood drive planned for Thursday will go on as planned for now.
The Muskingum Valley Red Cross said the only way the blood drive at Secrest will be canceled is if we reach a level three snow emergency.
The drive comes at a critical point in the year.
"This time of year we see an increase in the need. With every donation you have the ability to save three lives," said Support Specialist Susan Hoskinson.
The event is by appointment or walk-in. If you’re a little nervous about giving blood Hoskinson said there’s nothing to worry about.
"We have some wonderful representatives that are there to assist and help somebody that’s afraid of needles. We have some wonderful staff that can help calm fears," explained Hoskinson.
The blood drive at Secrest is sponsored by WHIZ and takes place from 10 a.m.. to 4 p.m.. Those that give blood can enter to win a $1,000 shopping spree.
