State Troopers plan to be out in full force for New Year’s Eve.

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is increasing the number of troopers on the road and the length of their shifts during the holiday as they attempt to detect and apprehend impaired drivers.

"The patrol is very diligent in looking for impaired drivers, hoping that people will use caution and plan their activities over the holiday and not drink and drive," said Lt. William Boyd.

The troopers have also spent a lot of time preparing for what may happen and have worked together to insure that all aspects of their shift will be covered when they head out on Monday.

"We just research our past crash pictures during the time frame and we look at our schedule and utilize the manpower that we have to provide additional coverage and we usually post some overtime so we can have extra people out on the roadways," said Lt. Boyd.

If you happen to see what looks like a drunk driver, call *677 to contact the Highway Patrol.
