Police will be out in full force to keep party goers safe this New Year’s Eve.
The Zanesville Police Department is increasing its patrol tonight. Chief Eric Lambes says crews will be out on the main roads to catch drunk drivers.
"We just as soon everybody went out and had a good time and made it home safely and that’s what we’re going to strive to do so whatever we need to do we’re gonna make sure that people get out, enjoy the New Years and get home safely," said Lambes.
Lambes also reminds those drinking to plan ahead and have a designated driver chosen before heading out to celebrate. The Chief says he doesn’t expect too much trouble tonight.
"Most of the bars in town do a very good job of watching the partiers, giving them rides home or helping them get home, getting them help so we’re glad that the bar owners, private clubs have really taken an active role and taking care of their patrons, they want them to have a good time but they also want them to get home safely," said Lambes.
Chief Lambes added that last New Year’s Eve was pretty quiet and he believes this year will be no different.
