Students at Mid-East give the gift of Christmas to students at Starlight Schools.

The kids at Mid-East adopted 32 students from Starlight and raised around $4,000 to buy them gifts. This is the 25th year for the program. The Mid-East students said they best part is giving presents.

"Watching them open the gifts and see their facial expressions on what they got," said Mid-East Kaylie Brown.

"It gives them something to look forward too for the year and makes them happy," said Nick Burk student at Mid-East.

Teacher and student council advisor Sue Lake said that besides learning to give the students learn a lesson to take into their careers.

"They need to understand that it’s a big crucial part of their careers as they get older," said Lake. "There isn’t a company anywhere that isn’t involved in the community, so they need to know that’s part of their life work."

New this year Mid-East treated the entire Starlight School to a winter carnival with games, treats and a visit from Santa. The carnival was paid for through the Kevin and Jill Martin Grant.
