2 More Charged In Cambridge Double Homicide

by George Hiotis on January 4, 2013

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that two more suspects have been charged in connection with a double homicide in Cambridge last summer.  Sheriff Mike McCauley says that 21-year-old Deondre Crosby of Zanesville and 31-year-old James Whatley Jr. of Columbus both face two counts each of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary – all with gun specifications.  The charges are the result of the murder investigation of Christopher Morrison and Justain Nelson at Coventry Estate Apartments on June 24th, 2012.  Whatley was arrested Thursday night by SWAT officers in Columbus without incident.  He will be extradited to Cambridge in the near future.  Crosby was served with his charges and is currently in the state prison system, on an unrelated charge.  Late last year another Zanesville man – Tyler Burrell — pleaded guilty to complicity charges in the same case and will be sentenced next month.  Three other have already been convicted in the case.
