The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the Red Cross is once again in need of blood.
There will be an emergency blood drive Saturday at Colony Square Mall from 10 until 3. No appointment is needed and every donor will receive a free t-shirt. Due to the holidays, bad weather and flu season, the Red Cross needs all the help it can get to meet its needs.
"Our blood collection did go down just a little bit, we’re not in a critical need right now but we still have to meet those numbers in order to take care of our area hospitals," said Muskingum Valley Chapter Executive Director, Marlene Henderson.
Each month the Muskingum Valley Chapter tries to meet a goal of 726 units of blood. Although the most recent blood drive in December did well, they are already planning for this month.
"Although it’s very early in the month for January, we’re just trying to do a little bit of catch up from December and hopefully we’ll be right back on track and even a little above," said Henderson.
