New Plat Books

It’s been over five years but Muskingum County will be getting plat books again.

The Muskingum County Soil and Water Conservation District says the books will be ready in April. The new plat book will contain maps that concentrate on landownership and acreage. City maps, a Muskingum County road map and a government directory are also included. The information is valuable to anyone with a need to know who owns land in Muskingum County, foresters and those in the gas or timber industry.

"Anyone can use a plat book the information is readily available on the internet however the internet isn’t always readily available in the hills of Muskingum County so a lot of times hunters like these, oil and gas producers, realtors and some people just like to find out who their neighbors are and who owns the land down the street," said Muskingum County Soil and Water Conservation District Administrator, Lisa Crock.

For those planning on building in Muskingum County, the books will be extremely helpful.

"It can show how a sub-division can be laid out, you can get a better idea how much acreage is there or how big a lot is."

There is currently a waiting list for the books.
