Christ’s Table celebrated the new year by doing what they do best, serving the hungry.

The soup kitchen opened their doors once again on a holiday and despite the cold and snow, many turned out for a home-cooked meal.

"It makes you feel good to know that they’re coming in and getting warm. They were in here this morning getting a hot coffee and donuts and to get a warm meal it makes you feel really good. We just want to put a big thank you out to the community for being there for us so that we can be here to do what we do," said Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden.

The last year for Christ’s Table has been a good one, despite some setbacks they faced like a leaky roof around Christmas and a slight food shortage due to the summer drought, they were able to make 2012 successful thanks to one thing.

"We could not do it without our volunteers. It literally takes hundreds of volunteers here at Christ’s Table to do what we do and it doesn’t matter what the weather is, whether it’s a holiday they’re out here in full force helping us out because this is truly their family."

Not only did Christ’s Table feed those who came in this New Year’s Day, drivers were able to deliver over one hundred homebound meals.
