Many people seeking office in the City of Zanesville have picked up petitions to run for office.
So far no one has returned any completed forms. The deadline to run in the election is fast approaching. A candidate must have their forms in by February 6 to be on the ballot. The Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections said it’s not unusual.
"They might wait till the last minute," said Muskingum County Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill. "You never know when a candidate is going to file."
At this time no levies have been placed on the ballot, but there are several council seats up for grabs.
"If it was a ward, all the wards are up. The Council at Large is up and also the President of the Council and also the judge is up in this election," said Hamill.
The election will take place May 7th. If you need to register to vote you must do so by April 8th.
