Christ’s Table in Zanesville is in dire need for one particular item to complete it’s goal for a balanced meal everyday.
Fresh and canned fruit shelves have been depleted at the food kitchen in the months following the giving season.
Executive Director, Keely Warden said, "January, February and March are pretty slow months in any non profit organization, everyone is in that giving mood at Christmas and Thanksgiving time and it kind of drops off that first quarter of the year. And we are low on fruit right now, and this is the time of the year that you really want to be able to serve fruit; fresh and canned fruit because it is high in vitamin A, C, and D and that helps those that we serve to fight colds and the flu. "
Each day Christ’s table will go through 75 to 80 cans of fruit to serve the numbers of people needing warm meals but any amount you can provide helps.
"Last year we served over a 110,000 meals at Christ’s table. On the average, anywhere from 350 and 500 meals a day. A little bit of fruit goes a long way, even though we need 80 cans a day, if you just drop off one, that adds to our bare shelves and we will save enough to where we can serve a whole meal of fruit. "
If you wish you do something good this week and donate fruit, Christ’s Table is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m.. to 3:30 p.m..
