Curing Spring Fever

Monday’s sunshine and warmer temperatures may have you itching to get outdoors.

This Saturday, the Muskingum County Garden Society wants to get you ready for the gardening season through their "Spring Fever" Home Gardening Symposium.

"By this time of year I think we’re all very excited to get our gloves on and get out there and start seeing nature come back alive," said Beth Brown president of Muskingum County Garden Society.

Topics this year include creating an edible garden, wild gardening and creating a garden to attract birds.

"There’s just something about seeing them come to our homes and they are just so beautiful and different colors and so people just don’t realize how to attract certain birds," said Brown. "Jim McCormac is an expert in this area. He travels all around. His book really targets the birds of Ohio."

The 10th Annual Garden Symposium takes place at the Ohio University-Zanesville Campus Center. The cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door and includes breakfast and lunch.

The event begins at 7:30 a.m.
