February is heart month and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department wants to focus on a major cause of heart disease, smoking.
Educators at the Health Department are taking the time to teach the public about the benefits of quitting smoking and offering their assistance to help people kick the habit.
"Rambo Memorial Health here in town also has 6 week classes that people can attend, on our website we also have links like smokefree.gov that people can go to and get smoking information," said ZMCHD Health Educator, Kylie Jones.
For the entire month of February the Health Department is increasing their ad campaign to help more people quit.
"With our tobacco grant that we have here the health department we’re working with schools, multi-unit housing, physicians and I would encourage anybody that is thinking about quitting to contact their physician because they are a good support system for that," said Jones.
Jones wants to remind those who are trying to quit to reach out for support at the beginning of the quitting process. for more tips on quitting smoking, visit the Health Department’s website, www.zmchd.org
