A fire in Zanesville forced a local business to be evacuated Thursday afternoon.
At around 3 o’clock the Zanesville Fire Department responded to a fire at Ohio Stoneware at 1107 Muskingum Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Eric Waltermire says when his crews arrived on the scene employees were on the roof and had the fire contained.
Waltermire said the fire started when the heat from the kiln heated up the chimney stack to the point that the foam rubber insulation caught fire.
All employees were evacuated due to smoke. There were no injuries reported. Owner Ross Pattison says the business will be open on Friday.
