The Zanesville High School hosted the 5th annual Y-Bridge Cheerleading Classic Sunday afternoon. "Winland" gym was packed with over 700 cheerleaders and spectators. Teams from all over Ohio came together to compete against one another with the goal of advancing on to the next level.
"This is our fifth annual Y-Bridge Classic. Americheer is the company that hosts it and we’re the host high school, so all of the planning and organizing, and setting up and all of that is on my coaching staff and our cheerleading teams," Zanesville High School Cheerleading Coach, Stephanie Jones said.
Local teams like Cambridge, New Lexington and Dover competed in today’s tournament. Teams were split up into age divisions and all-star teams, and were judged on showmanship, tumbling, jumps, motions and their overall choreography.
"The age divisions start at the tiny or mini division, which they can be 3 or 4 years old, and it goes all the way up to seniors in high school. So anywhere from 3 to 19 years old here today," Jones said.
Teams that win will qualify to earn a bid to compete at the international tournament that is held in Disney World.
