Patrick Bollinger, President of the Muskingum Valley Oldtimers Association is proud to announce that the Ohio Valley Regional Baseball Tournament will be coming to Zanesville this July. Bollinger says the tournament is a stepping stone for teens ages 13-15 who want to advance their baseball careers, and often go on to play in college and for the Major Leagues.
"It’s going to be a big deal for our community , it’ll be a big deal for the kids that have a chance to play on this team," Bollinger said.
Players are selected to participate in the tournament though a series of games including district, state, and finally the regional game. Bollinger says Zanesville was picked because the city has proven that it offers a good program for teens to play baseball.
"This tournament will bring recognition for all kids who dream of playing on a big stage, that I can play there, I can do this," Bollinger said.
The city of Zanesville will host 12 teams during the five day tournament. It is scheduled from July 23-28th at the Babe Ruth Stadium on W. Main St. For more information, you can contact the Muskingum Valley Oldtimers Association.
