Safety Tips For Your Summer Travels

After the recent incident on the Carnival Triumph, AAA has some important safety tips for your upcoming travel plans. Spokesperson Kimberly Schwind says cruising is one of the safest forms of transportation, and still remains one of the most popular vacation destinations.

"There are things you can do to make sure that you protect yourself, while you can’t prevent something like this from happening, you have to keep in mind that no matter what vacation you go on, there are going to be risks," Schwind said.

Schwind says it’s a good idea to talk to a travel agent before booking your vacation for tips and advice. That way, if something happens, your travel agent can be your point of contact. Schwind also recommends that travelers bring a passport with them on all cruises, pack an emergency kit, pay attention to the safety drills and remember to leave all of your jewelry at home.

"No matter what vacation you’re going to be on, use common sense, and don’t do things you wouldn’t do at home," said Schwind.
