The Zanesville Police Department has more details in reference to a weekend shooting.
The shooting took place on Saturday around one a.m. on Pershing road. According to Captain Coury the ZPD was alerted by the Speedway on Maysville Avenue of an apparent gun shot victim.
Captain Tony Coury said, "our office went down and talked to the subject, he told us that while he was walking around the fairground area on Pershing road, he was confronted by a few individuals, who in turn he thought were trying to do him bodily harm. He then heard a couple gun shots and then ran from the area. "
Coury then explained, once the man ran from the scene, he determined he had been shot in the head and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. He says the wound didn’t appear to be life threatening. The investigation is still ongoing to determine who the apparent shooter was, how it happened, and where exactly the shooting took place.
"It appears it is a random act, from what I have gathered and what I have been told so far, it does not look like this guy had any involvement with anyone. He merely was walking in the neighborhood between 12 and 1 o’clock when this incident occurred."
If you have any information regarding this shooting Coury urges you to call the Zanesville Police Department.
