A local organization is working to promote small businesses.

The Muskingum County Business Incubator held an outreach meeting to help businesses in rural areas obtain financing for their company and commercial loans for energy efficiency improvements and also renewable energy developments. Statewide loan companies attended the meeting to inform local companies of their options.

"We’re trying to just get the word out about our programs and the programs that are available for businesses in Muskingum County and those areas and Southern and Southeastern Ohio, we’re trying to get some business development, job creation, job savings those types of interest out here and try and just help the small businesses," said Randy Monhemius with USDA Rural Development.

Speakers from USDA Rural Development, the Small Business Administration and OMEGA chose to come to Muskingum County because they see a potential for growth in this region.

"We said let’s try and see what we can do to help some of the businesses here in Muskingum County, we thought this would be a good opportunity just to get the word out about our programs," said Monhemius.

Area businesses and lenders from local banks were also in attendance at the meeting.
