The John McIntire Library commemorates the 1913 Great Flood. The hour long presentation of slides and commentary was presented by Tom Brown, a Zanesville resident.

"Zanesville was just devastated with all the water and such and it’s just a story that needs to be told, what our grandparents had to go through," said Gary Allen, who contributed to the presentation.

The library will also be commemorating the 1913 Flood by unveiling the flood markers next Saturday at 1p.m. in the library auditorium.

"Because of the 1913 Flood, we now have flood control and the upper Muskingum River Valley up by Coshocton and those areas are now controlled by four or five reservoir."

If you are a resident of a historic home in Zanesville that was affected by the flood, you can receive a flood marker by contacting the Pioneer Historical Society at  www.muskingumhistory.org.
