Animal Shelter Wants Volunteers

If you have a love for animals and would like to volunteer the animal shelter is looking for you.

The animal shelter in Muskingum County is in need of volunteers and this Saturday they’ll hold an event to speak to those who are interested in giving their time.

The shelter’s executive director said the purpose is to match people’s talents to support the shelter.

"We have volunteers that help with some of our outside events. We have volunteers that help with fundraising events and if someone is interested in photography, computer work, things like that. We’re like any other business. We have a variety of needs that we can plug volunteers in," said Executive Director Jody Murray.

At Saturday’s event a representative that handles micro chipping of pets will speak. Microchips are used to find pets.

"It’s tied back to you and your phone numbers, so if your pet is lost, they run out the door, whatever, they can be scanned and even if they’re three states away they can be scanned and that information is tied back to you," explained Murray.

If you are interested in volunteering you must contact the animal shelter to RSVP for the event. A small lunch will be provided. The recruitment meeting will begin at noon.
